Ryan began writing scripts, taking acting classes, and directing his own short films at a young age while growing up in Tennessee. He started by writing, directing and editing his own live-action and stop motion films at the age of ten. Many of the shows and movies that influenced Ryan's interest in comedy and entertainment includes everything from The Dick Van Dyke Show and Marx Brothers movies, to PIXAR and Mel Brooks films.
College Experience
Ryan attended MTSU his freshman year, becoming one of the youngest Correspondents & Writers for the comedy show Just Dessert.
In 2010, Ryan moved to study TV Production & Writing at Columbia College Chicago. He was later hired as a Producer & Writer for Columbia's television station, Frequency TV. His idea for a web series was given the green light with Ryan at the helm as the Creator and Showrunner. He also found time to film and edit sketches for Chicago's Zanies Comedy Club.
Ryan moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to finish his final semester in Columbia's Semester in LA writing program. Within two months he became a Script Intern for CONAN, and eventually Freelance Production Assistant.
In 2014, he co-created and began co-hosting Historical Roast with Eddie Furth, featuring comedians roasting one another as historical figures, such as Lincoln, Elvis, Walt Disney, Michael Jackson, Tupac, Marilyn Monroe, Helen Keller, The Beatles, and Hitler. They performed regularly at The Nerdist Showroom in Meltdown Comics for more than 3 years, also appearing at The World Famous Comedy Store, Dynasty Typewriter, and even LA's Comic Con, performing over 60 roasts over five years. In late 2018 they were picked up for a 6 episode Netflix series, Co-Executive Produced by Ryan.
Ryan also co-created Fictional Roast in 2016, which features comedians roasting one another as fictional characters. Fictional Roast has featured Harry Potter, Batman, Star Wars, Back To The Future, Disney Princesses, Disney Villains, characters played by Jim Carrey, and many more.
Ryan plays an active role in The Ruby LA's sketch community as a cast member and writer on The Burbs for over 5 years. They've performed at The Comedy Central Stage, Portland's Sketch Fest, and throughout Los Angeles for over half a decade.
In 2019, Ryan began a new live comedy show called The Late Musical Show, a musical improv late night talk show featuring talented comedians as celebrities, characters, and historical figures.
Through all these experiences, Ryan is thankful to be developing comedy with some of the most talented people in the world.
